McKinney-Vento Program
At Nevada City School of the Arts, we are committed to ensuring that every child has access to a stable, supportive education. Families experiencing homelessness or housing instability may qualify for services and protections under the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. These protections help ensure that temporary housing challenges do not interrupt a student’s education.
Who May Qualify?
Students may be eligible if they are living in a temporary or unstable housing situation, including:
- Sharing housing with others due to loss of housing or financial hardship
- Living in a motel, hotel, trailer park, or campground because there is no adequate alternative
- Staying in an emergency or transitional shelter
- Living in a car, park, abandoned building, or other place not intended for regular housing
